Model 9000 (TMI) Water Softener
Uninterrupeted Soft Water Service Unlimited soft water supply 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In a class by itself, TMI is engineered for the most demanding light commercial and heavy residential needs.
All water softeners require periodic regeneration when their softening capacity is exhausted. During this regeneration, water bypasses the softener and is consequently hard.
TMI features a twin mineral tank system governed by a meter initiated control valve. One mineral tank is in service delivering soft water while the second mineral tank is held in reserve. When the softening capacity of the service tank is used up, the control valve automatically switches the water flow to the reserve tank. The exhausted regenerates immediately and becomes the reserve.

Features
- Durable mineral tanks and brine tanks.
- Dependable 1" and 3/4" control valves with three years parts warranty.
- Optional brine safety valve for added overflow protection.
- Optional grid plate reduces bridging.
- Optional bypass valve (3/4" only) for ease of installation and service.
- Uses soft water for regeneration, providing improved effieciency.
How TMI Works The TMI automatic water conditioner consists of four major components: two identical mineral tanks containing ion exchange resin to soften hard water, on e tank is in "service" the other is in "reserve"; a brine tank which produces a measured amount of salt water brine for each regeneration cycle and a meter initiated control valve which governs the operation of the system.
Hard water enters your home or premises through the main supply line. The control valve directs the hard water into the "service" mineral tank where it passes down through a bed of ion exchange resin.
Calcium and magnesium, the hardness minerals, are removed from the water and held in the resin bed. Softened water flows into your water line. Eventually the resin's capacity to remove and hold the hardness minerals becomes exhausted and regeneration is required.
The control valve meter is set to the volume of water one mineral tank can soften before its capacity is exhausted. When the pre-set volume is reached the control valve diverts the incoming water supply from the "service" tank to the "reserve" tank and soft water service is maintained while the exhausted tank is regenerated.
During regeneration backwashing cleans the resin bed and then a brine solution is passed through it. This reverses the ion exchange process, recharging the resin and freeing the hardness materials which are flushed away through the drain line along with the brine solution.
A final rapid rinse readies the bed to soften water again. The regenerated tank waits in reserve ready for use and the appropriate volume of water is returned to the brine tank to dissolve enough salt for the next regeneration.
