Meet the Member: Jackie Goranson

At Water Doctors Water Treatment Company family is extremely important!  Every employee is part of our family and we want to highlight our incredible talented “family members” in our Meet the Members Series, giving you, our readers, extended family members a deeper exploration at what contributes to our daily success.

Jackie is second generation of the Water Doctors family, so she has been apart of the company since inception. After graduating from St. Catherine’s University in St Paul with a degree in Food and Nutrition, she pursued her love of food while working at General Mills. Part of her role in Research and Development was interacting directly with clients understanding their perspective of the food product in development. Jackie has always had a love of people and this solidified her need to have the client interaction on a more frequent interface. When Katy was getting ready for maternity leave, Jackie was approached by her family to join the company fulltime. According to Jackie, joining the family business full-time was the best decision.

Being a family member in a family business there is never a dull moment. Jackie’s primary role as General Manager, she is constantly having to pivot throughout the day.  She is either jumping on the phones helping to assist, filling in when others are out of the office or working on long term projects.

When Jackie is not at Water Doctors you will find her either outside during the short MN Summers or hibernating inside during the long MN winters working on a house project. Any opportunity Jackie has to be outside she will, especially in the warmer months. She lives an active lifestyle with her family by running, checking out local state parks or gardening. Over the years Jackie has slowly been turning her brown gardening thumb to a green one.  When Winter sets in, she then pulls out the honey-do list and is updating her home.

Please enjoy reading about Jackie!

Name: Jackie Goranson

Job Title: General Manager

What do you love most about working at Water Doctors?Everything! I love the people I work with daily, talking with clients helping to provide high quality water treatment solutions or client services. And, seeing my family every day. We might not interact much, but its fun knowing they are just next door.

When not geeking out over water what can we find you geeking out over?

My family, the outdoors (being active, or just relaxing), and house projects!

What is your favorite place you have travelled to and why? Locally and recently has been Cuyuna Cove in Crosby, MN. My husband and I got away for a couple nights for a little r&r. If you haven’t gone, go!

If you could go any where in the world where and why? Everywhere! I have the travel bug bad! I would love to travel internationally, but there is also so much to see and experience right here in our great country.  One of my husband and I’s bucket list items is to go to all 4 Tennis Grand Slam Tournaments over the next few years. However, while our kids are little, we want to take them on as many family adventures we can.

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?  Nope!

What phobias do you have? Is mom phobia a thing?? Always worrying about something happening to your kids. Like falling into the water and can’t get them or walking away in a store and can’t find them. If so, then that’s me. Otherwise, nothing officially defined as a phobia.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?Crowd surfed (thanks to my sister Katy)

What is your favorite family tradition? The holiday season, specifically Christmas time. It started when we were younger and a tradition I am caring over to my kids. Every year, we pick one day and we get dressed up in our “fancy clothes” go to church followed by downtown to Macys 8th floor to experience the theme, watch the Holidazzle Parade with a hot coco in hand then head out to a special dinner. Now as adults with small kids and the growing extended families, and the changing of events, we get together as a family for church and special dinner (thanks to our parents).
